Reason why i'm back.

Hi guys,

One more story then. Just to write down all that happened so I won't have to tell everyone in person. That's making me sick and sad all over again.

So, I decided to come back home like a few weeks ago because of this email.

Effective inmediately:
1. Kids do not go anywhere without our permission first. Period.

Also I do not like that you and Jenny are not communicating whereabouts w each other. I said the same to Jenny this morning. You guys are a team. Kids should be doing activites like park, beach, etc together whenever possible.

2. We will also have to have a serious discussion w you about respectful use of the car or you will not use it anymore. It is not acceptable to take the car away all day and not return until 1 am or later. What if I needed it? You need to ASK first. Period. If we approve then no problem. But you can't operate like you're the only person. Understood? Example you told me last night you were going to starbucks. I expected you home at 10 or at least return car by then. If something is going on, you need to communicate w us, and again Ask.

3. Amex card is used only when I ask you to get something or gas. Anything else requires asking me First. example lunches out, etc. I usually don't have a problem w it, but you do need to ask. This goes back to item 1.

4. iPhone is for communicating w me and Steve, and is a communication tool while you are working. Please make sure you respond to us by iPhone when you are working & we are trying to reach you/kids. Its important that you understand this is why we've given you an iphone. It's purpose is not for texting w friends.

We can discuss this further w you in person but I wanted to be 100% clear by putting it in writing so there is no miscommunication.

SO, YES MOM I UNDERSTAND OK PERIOD.

That's where I said, hey this is too much. First you want me whenever I go out to tell you where i'm going, with who, what the phone number of this person is and where he or she lives.
And now this?

So I told them I had problems with the dutch taxes and that I had to go home to solve that PERIOD.

Then there was a problem, WHOOPS RED FLAG, they were going on a vacation to Nantucket in 2 days. AND of course they needed me, cause they had plans with friends.
So they gave me a choice, or I had to pack my bags right away and leave, or IF I wanted to say bye to the kids I should come and join them to nantucket.
I did wanted to say a proper bye to the kids so I gave in.
Off we went to Nantucket, but I could not tell the kids I was leaving yet? Hm
I worked 90 hours that week and I was DONE after we came home.
AND hurricane Irene was on her way, so there was no chance for me to probably meet up with my friends. Even though I needed to talk!
So I had lady call me, and while I was on the phone with her I asked my hostdad if I could go with them.
His answer was;
Well katinka, in case you didn't know hurricane irene is on her way. I'm not going anywhere, the cars aren't going anywhere. And IF you get in trouble in the hurricane you'll be on your own.

So I went upstairs, packed the stuff I might need and off I went.

I HAD LOADS OF FUN WITH MY FRIENDS THAT LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON

But I checked in with the family all the time and asked if they were ok. Also I gave them the adress I was staying and the phonenumbers of the persons I was with.
Didn't get anything back..So I assumed they were doing fine.

On sunday we slept for a long time and went to bar taco to have some fun with the girls and celebrate 2 birthdays.

Once again I checked in with the family, asked them if everything was ok, and that we never even lost power I thought it wasn't that bad at all

The message I get back says;
Well we thought it was pretty bad, a lot of people don't have power and a lot of basements flooded.

We want to talk to you about your schedule for coming week TONIGHT.
Thanks.

first thought;
Wow?! Um sorry what? It's my free day, so whenever you want to talk to me it's in my time? And schedule? Am I supposed to work the last week Í'm going to be in the states?

So I send them back;
Ok, I'll try and be home around 10ish.

Message back;
That's not acceptable katinka, call us now.

So I did, and that's where everything exploded.
She told me I should put work first and not my social life.

I came here to work not to have a good time with my friends!


So my response was, well I've been working for you the past 7 days for 90 hours or so? To be frank with you I really need some time with my friends now.
Well katinka, you've been staying the night with your friends, isn't that enough?
AND did you not get the message that said, all au pairs should stay in with their family while the hurricane is here?
I did not get that message, but hell no.
So I told her, no I did not get that email and I'm sorry, but you could've called me.
So then she started screaming; AND katinka if you want to be with your friends, maybe you should just come and pack your bags.

So I said, ok if you want me to, I will. I'll stay at my friends house cause they'd love to have me over the last week i'm gonna be here. When do you want me to come by? Tonight? Cause I can if you want me to.
- Obviously we don't have power so you won't be able to see.
ok, so I'll come tomorrow then and stay the night with my friends again.
-sure, what time do you want to come?

well obviously I'm not doing anything tmrw so tell me whats good for you.
-8am, if thats ok.

Ok sure, i'm out with my friends and you know it, but hey i'll come 8am see you then.

BLEEPBLEEPBLEEP

This is where the nightmare starts;

So Lady drove me to the house and wanted to help me pack my bags, but just to make sure that was ok I called my hostmom and asked.
Well it was not ok, they would help me pack my bags, lady is not allowed inside.
So lady dropped me off, and the first person I walk into is my hostdad.
He looked at me and said,
Katinka to be really clear with you right now, my house, my rules if it doesn't go by my rules thing are gonna get ugly OK"?

Surprised face; OK.

NO KATINKA, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?! MY HOUSE, MY RULES, IF IT DOESN'T GO BY MY RULES IT'S GONNA GET UGLY.

YES I UNDERSTAND.
So i walked away into the mud room grabbing all my shoes and started dumping them into bags.

Hostdad staring at me saying: PHONE, CC, BEACHPASS, KEYS, LIBRARY CARD. NOW!!

So I grabbed the Iphone and tried to reset it. NO KATINKA NOW!!
So I gave him the phone, knowing he could go on my facebook, read all my texts, and go on both my emails. FUCK

Then I walked upstairs, and heard him say to his wife, FOLLOW HER NOW.

So she followed me and ased me some questions. But by that time I was so afraid of my hostdad I was shaking and not able to speak.

So I told her that.

Finished my packing went downstairs and called lady to pick me up.

My hostmom was crying by now and gave me a hug and said, katinka? if you have any problems please do not hesitate to give me a call ok? (hostdad staring down at us)
NO DON'T EVEN GO THERE, SHE ABUSED US, DON'T YOU CRY ABOUT HER!!

That's when I said, ok time to go now.
All my stuff was dumped in front of the porch and my hostdad took both suitcases to lady's car but left the rest of my stuff on the street.
He sat down right there and I had to walk up to him to grab my stuff.

This is where he said; Katinka; if you try to do anything to me or my family, you should be warned. Cause I have really strong connections at immigrations.
So I said, please, don't even go there like really? After I loved your kids? And I love your wife? You're being ridiculous right now and you should just stop talking.
Then he just repeated what he said before.

Now that I'm writing this all down I'm afraid of him.
This whole experience didn't turn out so well for me and I hope everyone that is planning on doing something like this, thinks twice.
